Adam Perahia, a 29 year old former Bronx pediatrician, has been sentenced to two years in prison for possessing child pornography. According to court records, Perahia was a medical resident at Montefiore Medical Center when the FBI arrested him last year but he is no longer a doctor.

Hector Ramirez, a 45 year old career criminal, was charged with the savage rape of a 13 year oldgirl he snatched from her Bellevue Hospital room. Terrence Schouenborg, a 41 year old Massapequa man convicted of molesting a 13 year old girl whom he lured into his car from a Copiague park, was sentenced in a Riverhead court yesterday to 22 years to life in prison. He was convicted in January on 11 separate charges, including sodomy and sexual abuse, for the September 2003 attack. William Cronin, a 48 year old Lake Grove man, was sentenced to 21 years in prison yesterday formolesting a young girl. The legal system failed when the jury found him guilty because he shouldhave been found guilty of molesting two young girls. Cronin was convicted in December of engagingin a course of sexual conduct with and sodomizing a 9 year old girl. The Riverhead jury, however,acquitted him on charges that he sexually abused the girl’s older sister, who was under 15.

Andre Shobey, a 47 year old convicted sex offender on parole, fatally slashed an acquaintance in Queens, shot a woman in the Bronx and raped a teenage girl at gunpoint in Manhattan during a daylong, three-borough rampage. Shobey, a registered high-risk sex offender who was released in August 2003 after serving 18 years for robbery and the rape of an 11 year old girl, was arrested January 21, 2004, and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon. Additional charges are pending.
