MIDWEST CITY, Okla. —

A 79-year-old Midwest City man was arrested on Monday on 25 counts of lewd acts after admitting to molesting several children, according to Midwest City police.

According to an affidavit released Tuesday by police, the investigation began after a young child said that 79-year-old Jerry Darrel Newman makes her watch videos and touches her inappropriately. Police said they spoke with Newman, who admitted that he had molested several children and said he needed to talk to someone about it.

A former reserve deputy has received a 10-year probation sentence on child pornography charges.  Jonathan Hazer, 32, was sentenced Wednesday in Cleveland County court for one count of aggravated possession of child pornography and possession of child pornography. The sentence includes a suspended 10-year sentence for the aggravated count and five years for the second count, which will run concurrently.
