COMMISSIONER RELEASES FORMER TULARE COACH ACCUSED OF SEX CRIMES AGAINST STUDENT

The former Tulare Western High School basketball coach accused of having sex with a student was released from jail without having to fork over any cash.
Alec Denney, 25, was granted release this week by Commissioner Ricky Tripp. He’d been held on a $1.1 million bail.
During his arraignment on Friday, Denney entered a not guilty plea.
“Over the strident objection of prosecutors, the court ordered the defendant be released under supervision,” said Stuart Anderson, spokesman for the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office.
