Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel It Ends With Us has been adapted into a star-studded film, starring the likes of Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. But the much-talked-about film is facing criticism for appearing to glamorize its depiction of domestic abuse.

Sex Trafficking: LI Man Used Violence, Drugs to Control Victim, DA Says

A Long Island man is accused of using violence and drugs to traffic a woman against her will.

Mitchell Johnson, 38, of Farmingville, was arraigned on sex trafficking and related charges in Suffolk County Court on Thursday, Dec. 26.

Prosecutors said Johnson began trafficking his victim in March 2023, using crack cocaine to impair her judgment and control her actions.

Murder in Massapequa: Woman Discovered Lying Along Old Sunrise Highway with Multiple Stab Wounds

Police are now identifying the woman who was fatally stabbed on Christmas Eve on Long Island.

Josefina Ramirez Montero, 57, was stabbed multiple times in Massapequa on Tuesday, according to Nassau County police.

Officers found Ramirez Montero unresponsive on Old Sunrise Highway near Clocks Blvd. around 7 p.m. Christmas Eve, police said. She was taken to a nearby hospital, but did not survive her injuries.

The investigation into her death is ongoing by homicide detectives.
