Former teacher accused of sex crimes marries student, charges dropped

SARCOXIE, Mo. – A former Sarcoxie teacher charged for sexual relations with a student is now having her charges dropped after she and the student married.

Baylee Turner, who began teaching English at Sarcoxie in 2019, was charged that same year with having sexual relations with one of her male students.

However, now that Turner and the student have married, that former student cannot be asked to testify against her.

Police say Andrew Quattrone is accused of sending sexually charged texts to a 16-year-old girl.

Last Sex-Crime Inquiry Into Andrew Cuomo Is Dropped

 The last of five criminal investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct against former Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo ended on Monday with the Oswego County district attorney joining his peers in concluding that there were insufficient legal grounds to bring criminal charges.

The district attorney, Gregory S. Oakes, said in a statement that his decision was not a reflection on Virginia Limmiatis, the woman who had come forward, “or how harmful the acts she experienced were.”

Lawsuit against College alleging racial discrimination in sexual assault case dismissed

A lawsuit against the College filed by a former Dartmouth student accused of sexual assault has been dismissed, according to a Thursday emailed statement from College spokesperson Diana Lawrence. The reason behind the dismissal was not immediately clear.

The plaintiff, a former varsity Dartmouth football player referred to in court documents as John Doe, was suspended in September of 2020 for two years after a Title IX Office hearing panel found him guilty of violating sexual assault provisions in Dartmouth’s sexual and gender-based misconduct policy.

Former social worker sentenced for sex crimes with minors

A former social worker with the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services has received eight years in prison for sex crimes involving two teenage boys under her care.

Lauren Rose Cavness, 27, of Tishomingo, appeared Wednesday before Tishomingo County Circuit Judge Kelly Mims, the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reported. He sentenced her to 71 years for three felony charges but suspended most of it. Because she was in a position of trust, Cavness must serve the whole eight years and cannot seek time off for good behavior.
