SISTERS TELL GRAND JURY OF PRIEST ABUSE

Donna Nichols and her younger sister Darlene LoSordo told a grand jury yesterday how they were repeatedly abused as teenage girls by the same Roman Catholic priest, Nicholas Unterstein, at a Huntington Station parish more than 30 years ago.  While Unterstein cannot face criminal prosecution, Nichols, now 48, of East Northport, said testifying gave her a sense of freedom.  Unterstein can’t be criminally prosecuted for raping the sisters because so much time has passed.  And the diocese can’t be made financially liable for his actions.  Nichols quietly received a civil

FIVE PRIESTS RETIRING WITH ABUSE ACCUSATIONS

Five of the 10 priests listed as retiring this year from the Diocese of Rockville Centre had their priestly faculties removed recently because of allegations of sexual misconduct.  The Long Island Catholic, a weekly newspaper published by the Roman Catholic diocese, listed the priests in an article about new priest assignments, including retirements.  The article did not mention misconduct charges, although the newspaper published a story earlier mentioning allegations against two of the men.  The other five priests retiring had no charges against them.  Those retiring priests who have allegations

FATHER VOWS TO KILL KID’S SLAYER

GUILTY PLEA IN QUEENS HIGH SCHOOL BATHROOM RAPE AND COVER-UP
