LI MAN, 62, CHARGED IN CHILD PORN CASE

Melvin Clay Sr., a 62-year-old retired air traffic controller on Long Island from Moriches, has been charged with purchasing child pornography, a federal offense, from a Moscow company.  According to Newsday, he is among nine people arrested in the United States and Russia in connection with trafficking child pornography in an ongoing investigation by law enforcement authorities in both countries. Three other men were arrested in Indiana, San Francisco and Malden, Massachusetts.

ABUSED CHILDREN BILLED IN DAD’S CARE

Nelden McMickle began molesting his daughter, Chrissy, when she was 5 years old, afterward, hewould give her ice cream and warn her not to tell anyone. He began sexually abusing his son,Michael, when he was 5 years old and beating him when he was 7. Eventually, Michael told a neighborand their father went to jail for more than eight years. MAYOR PLEADS GUILTY TO SEXUAL ABUSE

Alfred Muller, a 58-year-old suburban mayor, pleaded guilty Friday to sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy in Washington’s National Cathedral.  Muller is a longtime mayor of Friendship Heights, Maryland and a volunteer usher at the cathedral for 35 years.  He encountered the teen in a bathroom on January 28th and reached over and touched him as they stood at adjacent urinals.  The boy identified Muller from a photo in People Magazine, which carried a story about Friendship Heights’ smoking ban.  The boy was at the cathedral on a field trip.  According

VATICAN: ABUSE OF NUNS NOT EPIDEMIC

On Tuesday, the Vatican denied a report in the National Catholic Reporter saying sexual abuse of nuns by priests, especially in AIDS ravaged Africa, is a serious problem.  The magazine article is based on five reports dating to 1994 by senior members of women’s religious orders and a priest.  A Vatican spokesman acknowledged there were isolated cases of priests sexually abusing nuns, but said the problem is restricted to a limited geographic area.  The article said, priests are afraid of contracting AIDS and sometimes turn to young nuns who are
