Representative Bob Franks, R-N.J., and Senator Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., have introduced theCybermolesters Enforcement Act, which would impose sentences of 5 to 15 years on pedophiles whostalk the Internet trying to lure children into sexual relationships. CONNECTICUT DIOCESE SETTLES SEX ABUSE LAWSUIT

A lawsuit brought by a former altar boy who alleged he was sexually abused by a priest more than 35 years ago was settled, said the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport on Tuesday.  The settlement was filed in New Haven Superior Court on March 21st, but was not made public until this week.  This ends the highest profile case of abuse by a priest in Connecticut and one that previously resulted in a $1 million verdict against the diocese.  Former altar boy Frank Martinelli filed his lawsuit in 1993 charging

PARAPLEGIC CHARGED IN GIRLS’ KIDNAP, ASSAULT

James A. Roth, a 44 year old paraplegic, was charged by authorities with kidnapping two girls aged 12 and 14.  After chaining them to a bed in his apartment and sexually assaulting them, he allegedly shocked the 12 year old with a stun gun when she tried to escape.  The 14 year old was reported by her parents as missing March 8th and the 12 year old was reported missing early Friday.  The 14 year old told investigators that Roth abducted her at gun point outside an Eagan Wal-Mart and

RAPE CHARGE CATCHES FUGITIVE 25 YEARS LATER

TENNESSEE:  COURT LETS SEX OFFENDER LAW STAND

A challenge to a Tennessee law aimed at helping government officials and the public keep track of anyone ever convicted of a sex crime was rejected today by the Supreme Court.  A ruling that says the law does not invade anyone’s privacy or violate any other constitutionally protected rights was left intact by the court, without comment.  All 50 states have some type of sexual offender law modeled after a federal Megan’s Law, named for 7 year old Megan Kanka, a New Jersey girl who was raped and killed by

YEMENI BEHEADED IN SAUDI ARABIA

Fahd bin Ali bin Rajeh, a Yemeni convicted of kidnapping and sodomizing a boy, was beheaded Monday.  He was found guilty of the kidnapping and sodomizing and taking indecent pictures of the boy.  The execution is the 15th beheading in Saudi Arabia so far this year.  At least 99 people was executed last year.  Executions are carried out with a sword in a public square.  Saudi Arabia’s strict interpretation of Islamic law mandates the death penalty for anyone convicted of murder, rape, drug trafficking, sodomy and armed robbery.
