Suffolk County’s much-criticized sex offender housing plan for the Town of Babylon wassquashed Tuesday, but residents say the alternative plan may create an even bigger problem. The county planned on setting up a shelter for homeless sex offenders in industrial areas in EastFarmingdale and other spots. Instead, the county will use a voucher system and give homelesssex offenders $90 a day to find housing they will be responsible for keeping their addressescurrent.
