Thirty-two of Westchester’s 50 most wanted fugitives, including one who had been sought for more than 30 years, have been rounded up in a cooperative effort by county police, probation investigators and the U.S. Marshals Serviced that targeted suspects wanted on warrants.  Some left the country, others fled the state, two died, and a few were hiding in plain sight under assumed identities.  

Wanted and arrested for sex crimes are:

– Douglas Walker, 41, wanted in the 2001 rape of a 4 year old girl.  He was arrested

Dale Dietrich, a 57 year old building inspector for Windsor Township in Pennsylvania, drove more than 100 miles and for 2 1/2 hours to Nassau County to meet a 14 year old boy for sex.  Turns out the boy was an undercover police officer.  Dietrich was charged with a dozen counts of first degree attempting to disseminate indecent material to a minor and one count of third degree attempted criminal sexual act.

Mark Fernandes, a 29 year old former NYPD cop who became a police officer in Clifton, New Jersey, was arrested yesterday and charged with soliciting someone he thought was a 12 year old girl for sex.  Fernandes is charged with attempted sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.  He was suspended without pay.  The girl was actually an undercover detective.  Fernandes was being held yesterday in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Brian Doyle, a 55 year old homeland security department spokesman, was held without bail onfelony charges of sexually preying on a detective posing as a 14 year old girl through explicitonline conversation. He was suspended without pay. Doyle is accused of 23 felony charges related tosexually graphic conversations with what he thought was a teenage girl. The charges include 16counts of sending pornographic movie clips to a minor. Doyle resigned on April 7.

Christopher D. Brandlon, 49, also known as Clif Winters and Lust Prophet, of Portland, Oregon, was sentenced in federal court to serve 11 years, 3 months in prison for enticing a minor to engage in criminal sexual activity.  Brandlon eventually struck up an on-line relationship with an undercover FBI agent based in Atlanta, who was posing as the mother of a young girl.  Over the course of many months, Brandlon and the agent developed a relationship centered around his desire to live the family lifestyle with the mother and her

Charles Taranow, a New York City sanitation worker from Brooklyn, was arraigned yesterday on charges that he had sexually explicit online chats with people he thought were children and offered one of them $100 for sex.  Taranow thought the Nassau investigators he was e-mailing over the past year were 14 and 15 year old girls.  He also had a phone conversation with an investigator this month in which he offered her money for sex, thinking she was 14.  He was charged with three counts of first degree attempted disseminating indecent
