Woodolph Romeo, a 25 year old Long Island man, was charged yesterday with forcing two girls, ages 13 and 14, into prostitution for three years in Queens, repeatedly beating and raping them and forcing one to have his name tattooed on her arm.  Both girls were runaways who Romeo forced to work as prostitutes in an area near Kennedy Airport known as The Track since October 2001.  The girls were picked up by customers and forced to perform sex acts for $40 to $100 on as many as 15 men

Joshua Witkowski, a 23 year old Ohio man, was arrested by Nassau police Thursday morning shortly after they discovered he had been having an online relationship with a Syosset girl and had driven from Ohio to meet with her.  Witkowski, who works for an insurance company in Ohio, sent sexually explicit e-mails to the 14 year old girl.  Police arrested him after he showed up at her house Thursday at about 6:30 a.m.  He was charged with a felony count of disseminating indecent material to minors.  He was arraigned Friday

Suffolk lawmakers yesterday unanimously approved a resolution requiring providers to check the state’s sex offender registry before hiring employees.  Day care providers are currently required to submit fingerprint tests to the state for a background check, a process that can take several months.  The bill requires day care centers that receive county funding to contact the New York State Sex Offender Registry before hiring employees or volunteers.  A provider who fails to check with the registry could lose county funding.  Nassau lawmakers are considering similar legislation.

Joseph Locoteta, 20, and Salvadore Piccarillo, 19, from Bellmore, were arrested August 4 for allegedly plying a 15 year old girl with alcohol at a block party on July 25, then leading her to a basement apartment where they raped and sodomized her.  Both suspects have been charged with two counts of first degree criminal sexual act.  Piccarillo has also been charged with two counts of first degree rape.  Piccarillo, of 108 Chapman Avenue and Locoteta of 2273 Rose Place, were arraigned in First District court in Hempstead yesterday.  Locoteta

John J. Nelson, a 43 year old upstate man, was arrested Wednesday night in East Hampton as part of a police sting to catch online predators.  He began communicating in an Internet chat room with an undercover East Hampton officer several days ago, believing her to be a 14 year old girl.  He arranged to meet her in East Hampton, where he planned to pick her up and take her back to his hotel room in Ronkonkoma to engage in sexual acts.  Nelson is charged with first degree attempted dissemination

Thomas Geed, a 28 year old Queens man, met a 13 year old Manhattan girl on the Internet, arranged a date at a Yankees game and then a rendezvous at a Long Island hotel, where he sexually abused her.  Geed, of 196 Place, communicated with the teen in an Internet chat room for weeks before agreeing to meet her a a ball game and then go to a hotel.  The girl went voluntarily and actually suggested the Floral Park Hotel.  She was reported missing by her family and the NYPD
