Peter Foster, a 59 year old Level 2 sex offender Southold police had been searching for since March 2007, was arrested in May 2007 after a tip.  Foster was charged with two felony counts of failure to register with the New York State Sex Offenders Registry.  He was arraigned and ordered held on $1,500 bail.  Police said they received a tip that Foster was doing work at a home next to Cutchogue East School on Route 25 in Cutchogue.  In March, Southold Police were notified that Foster had not completed

A Mastic teenage girl’s claim that she fought off a man who grabbed her while she was waiting for her school bus Monday was fabricated.  She made up the story because she wanted attention.  The 13 year old girl who fabricated this incident was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident.  This is the second similar incident reported to police in the Mastic area this year that turned out to be false.  Two other such incidents there were real and detectives made arrests in both of those cases.  

Jeffrey Musumeci, a 53 year old Massapequa Park insurance broker, was convicted of trying to persuade a person who he thought was a 13 year old girl to pose for pornographic Polaroids and was sentenced yesterday to 15 years in federal prison.  Musumeci had actually been meeting with an undercover city cop playing the part of Lisa, whom he had been chatting with online.  On the day of the rendezvous, he was carrying a condom and the Polaroid camera.  Musumeci had sent the cop graphic photos of himself and described

James Bonfiglio, a 37 year old karate instructor who was arrested at his Ronkonkoma apartment in October 2007, is charged with committing a criminal sexual act, a felony, as well as misdemeanor sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.  He is accused of molesting a 13 year old student in July.  Bonfiglio, owner of Excel Karate Academy, pleaded not guilty and was held on $30,000 cash bail or $60,000 bond.  He was released from jail after posting bond.  Bonfiglio is also being investigated for secretly videotaping his students
