Andrew Hamil, a 27 year old bus driver for the South Huntington school district who was arrested on district property on rape charges more than two months ago, was placed on administrative leave yesterday.  Hamil, of 70 Mulford Street, Huntington Station, was arrested at the district’s transportation facility in September and charged with first degree rape.  Free on $50,000 bond, Hamil continued to drive school buses because district officials did not know the seriousness of the crimes he was charged with.  A grand jury had indicted Hamil on first and

Francis Lucido, a 63 year old deli worker, shared a child pornography video with a fellow employee, who then promptly called the cops.  Lucido was arrested at his 103 Genova Court home in Farmingdale about 9 a.m. Tuesday.  He was charged with promoting the sexual performance of a child and was arraigned yesterday.

Gilbert Slater, III, a 25 year old Bay Shore man, is under arrest on federal child pornographycharges and is facing separate sexual abuse charges involving a teenage girl in California. Slater,of 14 Cedar Street, was arrested in August after allegedly downloading child pornography but duringa raid of his home, agents found pictures of a girl in sexual poses. Keith Mayo, Vincent Caforella, both 17, and a 15 year old, have been accused by a 14 year oldLake Grove girl of surrounding her as she walked through a wooded area, holding her down andforcing her to perform oral sex. The three were arrested earlier this week and were charged themeach with forcible touching and first degree criminal sexual act. James Mireider, a 49 year old Malverne man who carried on raunchy chats online for months with a person he thought was a 14 year old boy, was arrested Friday on sexual indecency charges.  Mireider, of 3440 Church Street, detailed sex acts and arranged a meeting to sex in online exchanges with the person, who was actually an undercover investigator.  Mireider was charged with six counts of attempted disseminating indecent material to a minor and attempted criminal sexual act and ordered held on a $105,000 bond after pleading not guilty.

Federal immigration officials said yesterday they arrested 18 sex offenders in Nassau County and said they will be placed in deportation proceedings.  The men were arrested by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and officers from the Nassau County probation department.  They included a citizen of Guyana who is a legal permanent resident of the US and was twice convicted of raping a 15 year old girl.  Another is a native of El Salvador who was in the country illegally and was convicted of sexually abusing a 13 year old
