An international investigation into child pornography resulted in charges against Brian Tod Schellenberger, a 42 year old North Carolina man who authorities said physically and sexually abused a six year old girl and an infant boy to create images he posted on the Internet.  He was arraigned on four counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of possessing child pornography.  An investigation initiated by a special police unit in Toronto, Canada, has resulted in five children being taken into protective custody, search warrants being executed in five US

William Lamarca, a 72 year old man, groped two sixth-graders on a Lexington Avenue subway train yesterday but was caught quickly by a pair of undercover cops aboard the train on an anti-pickpocket detail.  He was charged with two counts of forcible touching, sexual abuse and resisting arrest.

Kevin J. O’Brien, a 34 year old North Babylon man, was arrested February 1, 2004, for allegedlysodomizing a 14 year old boy on three separate occasions. O’Brien, of Warren Street, sodomized theboy at O’Brien’s home, at a motel and at a public dock in North Babylon. On November 28, 2003,after befriending the boy, he showed him a pornographic video at his home. On January 16, 2004, heallegedly took the boy to a local motel and sexually assaulted him and on January 27, committed thesame act with the boy

Anthony Price Lowenstein, a 40 year old Connecticut man, has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison and lifetime probation for trying to arrange to have sex with girls in Mexico.  He was sentenced to 63 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to interstate travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct and have child pornography.

Larry McQuay, a convicted sex offender who once asked to be castrated, is due for mandatoryrelease in May. He is currently serving a 20 year sentence but with good behavior and time served,he is scheduled to be released May 3, only eight years into his sentence. After McQuay was releasedin 1996 for molesting a 7 year old boy, he admitted to another sex crime involving a child, and itwas then when he was returned to prison that he asked to be castrated. It is not known if he everwas castrated.

A Dix Hills man admitted in court that he had engaged in sex acts with his daughter since before she could walk, and that he made photographs of her, and the girl herself, available to other men. As part of a plea bargain in which the man, who is not being identified, will be sentenced to 18 years in prison, he pleaded guilty to first-degree engaging in a course of sexual conduct with a child, three child pornography felonies and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
