James Lang, a 30 year old third-grade teacher at a New Canaan school, has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor. Lang, of Danbury, was charged Wednesday with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child. He has been on paid leave from South Elementary since early last month, shortly after the New Canaan School Board learned of the complaint against him.

Bruce Roberts, a 40 year old former church pastor, has pleaded guilty to a felony charge, admitting he sexually abused a 15 year old male parishioner. The former pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Avon, faces five years in prison, the minimum penalty, at sentencing February 10 for one count of first degree sodomy. He admitted performing oral sex on the boy in October 2002 when the teen lived with Roberts and his wife in Rochester.
Harold Flickinger, a 37 year old former high school teacher, has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of sexual misconduct involving a teenage student. He was sentenced Tuesday to six years’ probation. Flickinger, of Salina, was arrested in June and charged with felony third degree sodomy and misdemeanor charges of third degree sexual abuse and first degree unlawfully dealing with a child.

An Italian children’s-rights association said yesterday that the number of reported pedophilia Web sites shot up by 70 percent in 2003, with the United States accounting for more than half. The Rome-based non-profit Rainbow Phone said 17,016 Web sites featuring explicit child pornography were reported last year to international and national police groups including the FBI and Interpol.

Rev. Craig Stephen White, a 40 year old Philadelphia pastor who has condemned homosexuality and was known for using a bullhorn to preach to passers-by at colleges, was convicted of soliciting sex from a 14 year old boy. He was convicted of criminal solicitation to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and related offenses. He faces a minimum three year prison term on the most serious charge. Fifteen New Jersey residents, including a 70 year old retired Presbyterian minister, were bustedyesterday as the feds smashed an international kiddie-porn ring based in Belarus.
The 15, who were charged with downloading child pornography, also included a doctor, threepreviously convicted sex offenders, a teacher, a former campus minister, a bank employee and an 85year old retired engineer. The suspects used credit cards to buy subscriptions to porn Web sitesfrom Regpay, a Belarus company that sold memberships in 50 sites, including four it operated. The15 New
