BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – A Brunswick County man will spend nearly eight decades in prison after he was convicted of nearly a dozen child sex crime charges.

According to a news release from the District Attorney’s Office, Jay Johnson Waugh Jr., 37, was convicted of one count of indecent liberties with a child, one count of rape of a child by an adult offender, and eight counts sex offense with a child by an adult offender.

RALEIGH (WTVD) — With over a million visitors expected, the N.C. State Fair is the state’s largest annual event. So, tracking a random fair-goer who may be on the state’s sex offender registry seems like finding a needle in a haystack.

Vancouver police are warning the public about a high-risk sex offender that is being released into the city once again.
Trevor Leonard Smith, 46, is a federal offender with a high risk of “relationship and sexual violence — particularly against children,” according to police.
He holds convictions for sexual assault, possession of child pornography, assault causing bodily harm, and failure to comply with a court order.

A suspected serial rapist wanted for years has been nabbed in the Atlanta, Georgia, area, after police investigators in Clayton County discovered he was a police recruit at their own department last year.

Eight cases have been linked by DNA to suspect 24-year-old Kenneth Thomas Bowen III, Clayton County Police Chief Kevin Roberts said at a news conference Wednesday.
