BELLONE: SUFFOLK SEX OFFENDER MONITORING HAS REDUCED RECIDIVISM
Newsday/Robert Brodsky 2/17/15 Suffolk County officials Friday touted the record of their nearly 2-year-old program formonitoring convicted sex offenders, saying it had reduced recidivism. The officials’ remarksat a news conference in Hauppauge came less than two weeks after the state Court of Appeals struckdown a Nassau County law prohibiting Level 1 sex offenders, considered the least likely toreoffender, from living within 1,000 feet of a school. The ruling invalidated more than 100 localordinances, including Suffolk’s, which prohibits Level 1 and 2 offenders from living within aquarter-mile of a school, day
