State Police: Shelter Island Man Arrested, had 4,000 Videos of Child Pornography

State police say Juan Pablo Chuqimarca Guzman was arrested and released last month for having explicit images of children.

A Shelter Island man is accused of possessing child pornography.

State police say Juan Pablo Chuqimarca Guzman was initially arrested on Oct. 23 and released on three counts of possession of child pornography.

They say a further forensic investigation revealed that he had more than 4,000 explicit videos of children on his devices.

Shirley Man Forced Homeless Teen into Sex Acts for Shelter, DA Says

A Shirley man offered shelter to an 18-year-old girl experiencing homelessness. Then, he forced her to engage in sex acts with others to “repay” him.

Javesh Persaud, 34, of Shirley, pleaded guilty on Oct. 28 to sex trafficking and other related charges for forcing the unhoused teenager into performing sex acts on others so she could make money to “repay” him for the shelter he had promised her, said Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney.

Long Island Child Therapist Charged with Distributing Child Porn

A licensed social worker who works with children has been charged with distributing child pornography, authorities announced Wednesday.

Renee Hoberman, 36, also known as Rina, of Plainview, was arrested Wednesday.

Hoberman worked as a child therapist in Melville and worked professionally with children.

Authorities say Hoberman, posing as a man, posted child porn videos on social media messaging apps from June to October of this year.

“As alleged, Hoberman distributed heinous and disturbing child pornography, including videos showing infants being restrained and raped,” U.S.

After a lifetime of caring for children and serving her community, Carmel McDougall was ultimately betrayed by her own son and daughter, prosecutors alleged.

Long Island resident Michael McDougall, age 65, of Roosevelt, was indicted on manslaughter and related charges in Nassau County Court on Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the death of his mother, McDougall.

His sister, Nichole McDougall-Mullings, age 55, of Roosevelt, was also charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person.
