Rev. Francis Nelson, a 38 year old Catholic priest who sexually abused a 12 year old altar girl, was blasted yesterday by a judge and then sentenced to four months behind bars.  Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Albert Tomei said, You didn’t steal any money.  You didn’t assault her with a slap.  You took her spiritual life away.  You damaged her for life by your actions.  ‘Pride goeth before the fall.’  You know the proverb.  It’s in the Bible, the judge added.  And this is what you exercised in this case.

Monsignor John Zeder and Reverend Thomas Keating have been accused of sexually abusing a woman in separate incidents more than 20 years ago when she was a teenager.  The upstate woman said that Zeder raped her between 1978 and 1981 and that Keating sexually abused her in 1982 after she told him about Zeder’s conduct.  The incidents occurred while the men were priests at St. Mary’s Church in Cortland.  The lawsuit accused the diocese, Bishop James Moynihan, Auxiliary Bishop Thomas Costello and the two priests of violating the federal Racketeer

Russel Hardin, a 38 year old former Giuliani administration official, had child pornography charges leveled against him in an indictment that also accuses him of funding a virtual Roman holiday with tax dollars.  He was arrested at hi upper East Side apartment where investigators found sexually explicit images of children downloaded on his computer.

A Los Angeles tow truck driver who took in a stranded motorist and 12 year old girl who was withhim, tipped off police that the girl might have been kidnapped.

Peter C. Harvey, New Jersey’s acting Attorney General, has assured victims of priests sex abuse that he will keep pressure on church officials to immediately report such crimes.

A 13 year old girl reported to police she had been sexually abused by a 25 year old man she knows several times over the course of five months on the Lower East Side.  The girl told cops she and the man had sexual intercourse on one occasion, a statutory rape.  Police are investigating and no arrests have been made.
