EX-CANDIDATE CONVICTED OF CHILD RAPE

According to the Associated Press, David Giles, 50, a two-time congressional candidate was convicted of raping a preteen girl after he told a 900-number chat service he had assaulted a young relative.  He was jailed to await sentencing on charges of first-degree child rape and first-degree child molestation.

PASTOR CONVICTED OF RAPE IS CAUGHT

Henry Wilson, 46, an Arkansas pastor who has been on the run for more than a year after being convicted of raping two young sisters was captured Wednesday in Minnesota.  According to the Associated Press, he was on trial in March 1999 for raping the two sisters, ages 7 and 9, while he was a minister in a church near Little Rock.  He fled during a lunch break and was later convicted in absentia and sentenced to 40 years in prison.

He now faces additional charges for fleeing to avoid

EX-FELON WHO FLED IN COPTER IS RECAPTURED IN SOUTH FLORIDA

Steven Whitsett, 28, was convicted of child molestation in 1994.  On Monday he escaped from a treatment center in a

helicopter but was recaptured today along with the pilot, Clifford Burkhart, 23.  After clearing a 15-foot razor wire

fence around the center the helicopter crashed about 100 yards away.

ADDICT GETS 25 YEARS IN TODDLER’S TORTURE-SLAYING

Trent Fouts, 35, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the torture killing of a toddler left in his care.  He was convicted of murder in March for the 1997 murder of 1 1/2 year old.    Fouts said he had gotten high just before the boys mother left.  He was acquitted of a molestation charge.

CABBIE CHARGED IN RAPE

Glen Edwards, 28, a Sag Harbor taxi driver, has been charged with raping a 14 year old girl on April 26th, while he was on the job.  The girl was an acquaintance, not a customer.  He was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree rape and one count of third-degree rape, felonies.  He was arraigned and has been released on $5,000 bail.  If he is indicted and convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.
