A sketch of a man who has been linked to a series of abductions of females, mostly from school and public bus stops, during the past nine months, has been updated.  The white man in his 20s or 30s with brown curly hair is a suspect in last weekend’s abduction and sexual assault of an 8 year old girl.

MAN, 18, CHARGED IN RAPE, ROBBERY IN NORTH BABYLON

Derric Clancy, an 18-year-old Deer Park man, was arrested and charged with the midday robbery and rape of a North Babylon grocery store employee in a woman’s bathroom at the store.  Employees at the Pathmark store on Route 231 worried about their missing colleague and went to find her.  Clancy was apprehended in the bathroom and held until police arrived.  Clancy apparently followed the woman when she went to the store’s second-floor bathroom about 12:30 p.m. yesterday.  He turned off the light and told her he had a knife and

RUC CONSTABLE GETS 10 YEARS FOR RAPE

Eric Millar, 47, an RUC constable, was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for rape in Belfast Crown Court.  He was convicted of raping a woman several times over a five year period, the rapes began when she was 15.  He was suspended from duty following his arrest.

NEVADA:  TECHNOLOGY AIDS SEX OFFENDER ALERTS

The Reno, Nevada Police Department is the second law enforcement agency in the country to use Megan’s Mapper, a software program that uses geographic mapping to notify residents when a sex offender moves into the neighborhood.  The program can generate thousands of notification letters in minutes, track where sex offenders live and create databases of sex crime convicts who are not required to register.  It is estimated that the new system can do in 30 minutes what would have taken a week to do before.  Police say that the mapping

BABYLON HOMELESS MAN FACES FONDLING CHARGE

Michael A. Scott, a 37-year-old homeless man, is in custody after his arrest on a charge of fondling and 11 year old boy in North Babylon.  He allegedly approached the boy, who was with his mother while she was using a pay phone at Straight Path and Fulton Street out of her view on the other side of the phone.  The boy complained to his mother and she summoned an officer.  Scott is charged with second-degree sexual abuse, an offense involving improper touching of the private parts.  He is also
