Rasheem Dupree, a 28 year old level one sex offender on parole, was arrested after beingcaught living in a home in Islip Terrace that is also the site of a day care center.  News 12Long Island teamed up with the sheriff’s department and Parents for Megan’s Law to stake out thehouse.  The sheriff’s department found Dupree in violation of his parole for driving a car andliving in a residence with children.  Parents who send their children to Safe Haven werenotified.  Parents for Megan’s Law representative Laura

The South Huntington town web site’s sex offender locator map was used to smoke out six level 2 and level 3 sexual predators living in sensitive areas, a zone where sex offenders are restricted from living.  The sex offender legislation passed by the town last year prohibits level 2 and 3 sex offenders from living within 1,320 feet of a school, park, day care center, playground or day camp, churches, synagogues and mosques.

Brookhaven Third District Councilwoman Kathy Walsh is working with Parents for Megan’s law to draft a law in an attempt to restrict the number of sex offenders who can live in a residential home.  Walsh is aiming to create a resolution that would change Brookhaven Town’s zoning laws so that only one convicted registered sex offender would be allowed to live in a residential house.  Every one of us has an expectation as to our quality of life and the safety of our kids, yet we’re being confronted with landlords
