Anthony Mercer, a 42 year old HIV-positive Brooklyn man, has been sentenced to 25 years behind bars for assaulting and sodomizing a 16 year old boy lured to his apartment with promises of wine, women and fun.  Mercer came on to the teen and when the victim tried to leave, Mercer hit him, stabbed him several times with a knife in the left lung, chest and hand, pinned him up against a wall and sexually abused him.  Mercer sodomized the boy without a condom.  Test results for the victim came

Fernando Colman, a 35 year old soccer coach from Elmont, was indicted on charges of sexuallyabusing six boys during team trips in 2001 that involved overnight stays at two Queens hotels. The19-count Queens indictment charged that Colman, who is a construction worker and serves as vicepresident of the Argentina Soccer School in Forest Hills, sodomized and sexually abused the sixboys who range in ages 11 to 14, during soccer competitions in the metropolitan area. Bradley Roffer, a 30 year old Mount Sinai Middle School physical education teacher, was arrested after asking a 14 year old student during an Internet chat to have sex with him. Roffer, of 29 Mt. Rainier Avenue in Farmingville, was charged with one felony count of disseminating indecent material to a minor and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child. He surrendered to police after being arraigned and was released on his own recognizance.  

Roffer was granted conditional release and ordered to forfeit his state teaching

James Vrionis, a 59 year old self-appointed archbishop of an Orthodox church in Queens, pleaded guilty yesterday to sexually abusing a boy nearly 30 years after making a similar admission in Pennsylvania.  The pastor of Sts. Fanourios and Gerasimos Greek Orthodox Cathedral, was sentenced to a year’s probation after he admitted groping a 14 year old boy at his Woodside church.  He faced 90 days in jail on two misdemeanor charges of sex abuse and attempted sex abuse.  Instead, he pleaded guilty  and was ordered to register as a sex

Pamela Diehl-Moore, a 43 year old teacher, admitted to having a sexual relationship with a 13 year old student and pleaded guilty in January 2002 to sexual assault charges as part of a plea bargain with Bergen County authorities. She was expected to receive a three-year prison term when she was sentenced, but instead received five years’ probation. Angelo Montesdeoca, a 32 year old computer programmer from New Jersey, was sentenced to five years’ probation after admitting he traveled to South Sioux City, Nebraska, last summer to have sex with a 14 year old girl he met on the Internet.  Montesdeoca, of Lodi, was sentenced in Dakota County District Court.  He pleaded guilty in February to first degree sexual assault and faced a maximum penalty of 50 years in prison.  He was also ordered to register as a sex offender in Nebraska and any state in which he
