COURT TO HEAR SEX-ABUSE LAW CASE

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear arguments on a challenge brought by 72 year old Marion Stogner, a retired paper-plant worker who police say created a home life so dysfunctional that his two sons became molesters themselves.  He is accused of abusing his two daughters in California nearly 50 years ago.  He long denies abusing his children.  His attorney, Elisa Stewart, says the accusations by his daughters are so old that she can’t mount a defense.  His case, which landed in court just five years ago, is on hold

CHILD SEX ABUSE SENTENCE

William and Lily Marti were sentenced to 7 years in prison yesterday for kidnapping, molesting and sexually abusing street children in India.  They were also ordered to pay $106 to each of three girls.  The couple, of Steinhausen, was arrested in 2000 and charged with taking nude photographs of poor street children who approached them for food and money.  They have been in jail since.  The time served, more than two years, will count toward their term.  Police arrested them at an upscale Bombay resort in December 2000 while they

SCHOOL-RAPE SUSPECT’S RAP SHEET

Roberto Ramos, a 25 year old custodian, is accused of raping a 13 year old schoolgirl in a Catholic Church closet.  He had a prior criminal record involving drugs and reckless behavior.  Ramos was working at Immaculate Conception Elementary School in Gramercy Park despite a history of convictions for attempted sale of heroin.  He was employed by a janitorial company hired by the Archdiocese of New York.  He was arrested March 18 and charged with second degree rape.

FIEND WILL ROT FOR ‘911’ GIRL-KIDNAP

Barry Sherman, a 39 year old man who snatched a 6 year old girl from her front yard on November 8, 2001, and held her for ransom, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison.  Anna Cardelfe, of Spring Lake, was released unhurt a day later and police caught the kidnapper.  He was ordered to serve 15 years for kidnapping Anna and also received a consecutive seven year sentence for child endangerment, and must serve more than 14 years before he will become eligible for parole.  He will receive credit

HOUSE APPROVES ‘AMBER ALERT’ BILL (But added measures put its fate in doubt)

NYPD DAILY BLOTTER

Barbra Greene, a 35 year old token-booth clerk, was arrested and charged with raping a 16 year old boy in Crown Heights.  She was arrested for having sex with the boy at least 20 times between April and December 2001.  She is charged with third degree rape, third degree sodomy, endangering the welfare of a child and sexual misconduct.
