Albert Rauscher, an 85-year-old Babylon violin teacher who gives private lessons to a number of students at his home, has been accused of sexually abusing one of his students. According to Newsday, a girl, described by police only as being under 11 years old, was inappropriately touched by him during a lesson. He was arraigned on one count of first-degree sexual abuse and was being held at the Suffolk County Jail on $5,000 bail. Police learned of the incident from the girl’s parents. Most people agree that the public should keep tabs on many convicted sex offenders, such as, child molesters, serial rapists and people who use weapons, violence, or threats while committing a sex offense. But Arlington therapist Jeff Clark questions whether it is appropriate to treat all sex offenders the same. Some of the concerns involve cases of statutory rape in which the sex was consensual, cases in which the offender is a juvenile and cases involving a victim who is related to the offender.

Donald Richard Neff, a 33-year-old former local Boy Scout leader and 12-year-old Ricky Heatherlyare the subject of a national manhunt by Akron police and the FBI. Neff is a convicted childmolester who is reputed to be a nonviolent person. Police say Neff was packed Wednesday for acamping trip and a prearranged meeting with Ricky, who fled his school and ran to a truck whereNeff was waiting. The two are believed to be now driving a maroon 1989 Ford Taurus.

A convicted rapist was released in March before Bergen County prosecutors could be told. Two 9 year old Harlem boys are accused of holding down and fondling a fourth grade classmate at their school. The boys were arrested as they trotted off a school bus. Both boys and the girl are in special ed classes.
