James Irwin, a 51-year-old principal of a Catholic grade school in the Bronx was arrested andaccused of sending sexually explicit images of kids over the Internet. He pleaded innocent at hisarraignment in Yonkers City Court. Westchester District Attorney Jeanine Pirro said the children inthe pictures weren’t from Mount Carmel. An agent posed as a man interested in child pornography andafter a discussion online Irwin indicated he was willing to send to the investigator images ofchildren engaged in sexual activity, and he did. Nicholas Puner, a 58 former New Castle planning board chairman, was sentenced yesterday to 60 days in jail and five years’ probation for sodomizing two teenage boys he met on the Internet. He apologized for what he did and for the anguish he caused his family. He pleaded guilty inJune to third degree sodomy. Supreme Court Justice John Perone said he believed Puner was remoreseful, but ruled he was a Level 3 sexual offender, the highest level under the state’s Megan’s Law, and ordered him to pay a portion of
Charles Horton, 32, was sentenced to one year of home detention and has to wear an electronic ankle bracelet, after he pleaded guilty to kidnapping and trying to rape a 12 year old boy. He has permission to attend school and counseling. According to the Associated Press, the decision stirred the ire of Governor Paul Cellucci, who will examine Superior Court Judge Maria Lopez’s record for a pattern of leniency. Meanwhile, other community leaders demand a hearing which could force her to step down from the bench.

Gabriel Pugsley, a 22-year-old Minneapolis man who is HIV positive is charged with raping a 4-year-old boy. He is charged with kidnapping, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, first-degree assault and attempted assault. Bail has been set at $200,000. Pugsley lured the boy from a hallway into a basement of the Stevens Square Apartment building. Marine Lance Corporal Kenny K. Titcomb, a 19-year-old US marine, was sentenced to a two-yearjail term for molesting a Japanese schoolgirl in a crime, which fueled protests against the USmilitary and cast a cloud over a leaders’ summit.
